Pressing Vinyl for the First Time? Here Are the Questions We Get Asked Most

Whether you're an independent artist pressing your debut record or a label adding another title to your catalogue, making vinyl raises a lot of questions. We talk to artists and labels every day. While every project is different, the same questions come up again and again. So here they are.

The most common ones are about timing and what you need before we can get started. Our turnaround is approximately eight weeks — but that clock starts only once we have three things: your mastered audio files, your completed artwork, and your deposit. If you can't get everything to us at once, a partial submission can help reduce the overall time, but we can't lock in a completion date until it's all in. On quantities, we press anywhere from 100 to 10,000 records. 100 is our minimum. We also regularly get asked about split runs between colours - yes, you can, with a minimum of 100 per colour - and whether we can ship to multiple addresses. We can, with some additional cost depending on what's involved.

The other area that generates questions is the technical side — test pressings, scribe numbers, RPM, centre labels. You don't need to be an expert in any of it. But having a basic understanding makes the whole process smoother and faster. Our FAQ about vinyl pressing page covers all of these in plain language. Or call us on [07 3260 1653] - we're genuinely happy to talk it through before you commit to anything.
