Featuring Michelle Smith on harp, Kate Pass on double bass and Talya Valenti on drums, Turiya combines jazz, pop, RnB and classical styles, with influences from harp legends Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane. This is a unique and innovative group and a rare incarnation of the harp, explored in this trio setting within modern jazz realms.

Shortly after their inception in mid-2020, they sold out a Fringe season at The State Theatre Centre in January 2021. Turiya was invited by RTRfm to play Courtyard Club later that year and in 2023, they recorded a live session for the RTRfm video series ‘The View From Here’. Turiya has appeared at Fremantle events including Hidden Treasures and the Fremantle Arts Centre Sunday music series. They have appeared at Jazz by the Beach, York Festival 2021, Lyric Lane Jazz Festival in 2022 and have played well-received shows at The Ellington Jazz Club.
