Again predominantly his Australian take on solo Acoustic guitar, Primitive guitar, Guitar Soli, Ecstatic Guitar - what-ever you would like to call it this week.
Glookies Guit is sadder, weirder, more melodic than his other records, incorporating influences from Germany, South Africa, America and the U.K but forging ahead to find a truly Australian sound.
7 Guitar tracks and 3 ambient tracks made from guitar and field recordings from Germany, Netherlands, France and his home, Australia.
"I have been playing the guitar a lot and the album fell into place quite naturally".
Mastered by Mikey Young, this is the sound of a guitarist in love with playing the guitar, evoking nostalgia and emotion but never cheese.
Music and art cloaked and captured by Cross in the beginning of 2024.
Darren played a custom Opus Acoustic Guitar on all guitars songs except track 3 where he played a Maton Artist EBG808.
Guitar repairs Les Rankin.
Darren uses Rode Microphones.
Cross recorded the album himself.
"If you help me in anyway, this ones for you friend".
Cross is emerging as an important voice among the modern players who continue to find new territory in the world of guitar discovered by John Fahey (who, of course, also experimented with found sounds and electronics). With the release of two fine albums in so short a time, he seems to be on a creative tear. Fans of Bachman, Isasa, Jones, Rolin, et al., take note.

About the artist
D.C Cross
Darren D.C Cross is an instrumental ecstatic guitarist.
In the tradition of Leo Kottke, John Fahey, Nick Drake, Elizabeth Cotton and Mississipi John Hurt but forging a unique Australian perspective on the genre.
Cross previously of Sydney trailblazers Gerling and folk Noir Duo Jep and Dep, has knuckled down for the last 8 years specializing in the fingerstyle hybrid of what he calls Australian Ecstatic Guitar, the sweet spot between Doc Watson Bluegrass, British Folk revival and American Primitive guitar.
"Cross is emerging as an important voice among the modern players who continue to find new territory in the world of guitar discovered by John Fahey (who, of course, also experimented with found sounds and electronics). With the release of two fine albums in so short a time, he seems to be on a creative tear. Fans of Bachman, Isasa, Jones, Rolin, et al., take note".
