‘Haven’t You Heard?’ is a sprawling folk-theatre production in 12 tracks. From foot-stomping absurdity to fragile reflections, it’s an anthology of love, longing, paranoia, heartbreak, and satire. Featuring mandolin, accordion, acoustic guitar and layered harmonies, the album stretches the genre into strange and exciting places while never losing its emotional core.
The Inadequates are thrilled to showcase the material they have been developing for the last few years. This 12-song album features all of the hallmarks of the Inadequates’ sound: tight 3 part harmonies, highly arranged and technically demanding instrumental work, paired with wrenching songwriting and the slamming energy that has earned them comparisons to more rock bands than acoustic ones.
Alongside the music, the band has a new look: their signature bright suits have now been custom embroidered, showing that the boys have been working just as hard behind their instruments as they have been behind their Singer EM9305 Embroidery Machine. Yes the embroidery was done by them, and yes it was so much harder than it looks (see for yourself on the back cover).
Get The Inadequates’ debut album ‘Haven’t You Heard?’ on vinyl now - if not for the music, then do it for the embroidery.

About the artist
The Inadequates
The Inadequates (Lawson Mackriell, Marcus Church & Jackson Church) are an award-winning trio known for their energetic performances and innovative acoustic sound. Redefining folk with theatrical flair, genre-defying arrangements, and wildly expressive performances, their debut album is bursting with 12 tracks of tightly crafted chaos, reflective storytelling, and musical mischief.
On top of their new release, a slew of festival performances have established them as heavyweights in the Australian acoustic scene, with a live show that is brimming with energy, virtuosity, and humour. The trio’s colourful stage presence and unconventional sound have made them one of the most exciting new acts in the genre, being likened to bands such as Nickel Creek, Mumford & Sons and Punch Brothers.
They also have by far and away the best merch in the game, so once you’ve bought the vinyl (go on, the button is just above), make sure to get yourself to a gig ASAP. You don’t want to miss this.
"There is some top-level folk going on here. We’ve got beautiful mandolin, acoustic guitar, accordion and double-bass. Throw in emotive vocals and sweet harmonies, and this is a masterclass in indie folk-pop that hits from multiple directions." (AU Review) [About 'Genevieve']
