Having honed their dirty bubblegum aesthetics and garage punk rock tones, Glycereens have created a fuzzed-out sound that is both energetic and super catchy. Their first digital album “Hangin’ On!” was released in late 2018, both independently and through Otto Records in San Antonio, Texas, USA. A digital EP “Letters From Paradise” was released through Kafadan Kontact Records out of Istanbul, Turkey. A vinyl 7” single of Neon City Lights was released late 2020 through Evil Tone Records in Sydney, Australia. The second album “Atomic Army” was released on April 23rd 2021 in both digital and vinyl format. A video for Neon City lights was released on the same day. A second single “Ride It Out” and video were released by Italian Label AUA records.
Devastating news came in June 2021 as the Glycereens bass player Nathan Smith was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Nathan put up a brave fight staying positive throughout the treatments, going into remission Christmas 2021. Unfortunately the cancer returned in May 2022 and gave him no chance of recovery. Nathan passed away on 29/06/2022. In September 2022, Glycereens hosted a memorial festival for Nathan. The “High Kicks Forever” festival, raised $11,000 for Lymphoma Australia. High Kicks 2 was held at the Zoo in September 2023 and raised a similar amount.
The Glycereens made a promise to Nathan to carry on playing. Nathan managed to record 7 tracks including “Get Off” on the album “Glycotherapy” which was released on May 2nd 2024. The album will serve as part of Nathan’s legacy.
With new Bass player and drummer, Kylie and Jordan on board, Glycereens have kicked on and to date in 2024, have played up and down the East Coast of Australia and most notably, being Queensland tour support for Oz legends Hard Ons, a national tour with inspirational Japanese trio Shonen Knife and launching Glycotherapy in Geelong, Nathan’s home town.
